# How Daysync Works

> A four-minute speed run of the Daysync platform: days, schedule, stays, venues, guest lists, bulletins and tour chat.

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.2500%; height: 0;">
  <iframe style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0;" src="https://www.tella.tv/video/vid_cmuv0ij0l000006rl8gtc2e5e/embed?b=0&title=1&a=1&loop=0&t=0&muted=0&wt=1&o=1" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowtransparency />
</div>

Daysync is built around one idea: **every day of the tour is its own page**. Pick a day, and everything that happens on it lives in one place: where you're going, where you're sleeping, who's on the door and what the crew needs to know.

<Tip>
  New here? Watch the video above first. It's under four minutes, and the rest of this page is the cheat sheet.
</Tip>

## Days are the backbone

The left-hand sidebar lists every date on the tour. Click a date to jump to it.

Each day has a **type** (show day, travel day, day off, etc.), a **name** and a **location**. Hit the pencil icon on any day to change them. You'll set these up when you [create a tour](/guides/create-a-tour), but you can change them any time.

Inside each day you'll find five tabs, plus tour chat, which sits on its own.

## Schedule

The schedule holds everything happening on the day, from load-in and soundcheck to the drive to the next city, in a single timeline.

Click any item to open it in the sidebar. From there you can set **visibility**, add **tags** and **reminders**, assign **people** and **colour-code** it so it stands out.

### Creating items

Click **New item**, or press <kbd>N</kbd>. Then use <kbd>⌘</kbd> + <kbd>←</kbd> / <kbd>→</kbd> to cycle through item types:

| Type | What it's for |
| - | - |
| **Schedule item** | A regular slot in the day: doors, set times, interviews |
| **Drive** | Road travel, with route calculation and vehicle profiles (e.g. avoid tolls) |
| **Flight** | Air travel |
| **Rail** | Trains |
| **Boat** | Ferries and the like |
| **Walk** | Short hops on foot |

All travel types calculate the route for you, so times and distances are based on the real trip.

### Three ways to view it

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Table">
    A dense list, useful for building and editing a day quickly.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Day sheet">
    Exactly what your crew sees on their phones. Check this before you publish changes.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Calendar">
    A time-blocked view for spotting gaps and clashes.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Stays

All your accommodation for the day, including who's checking in and who's checking out.

* See every stay on a **map**
* Add **room lists**, **notes**, **attachments** and **visibility** rules
* Get a **drive to venue** route straight from the hotel
* Add **key contacts**. They appear on each crew member's Contacts page on mobile.
* Switch to the **rooming list** view for bigger touring parties

***

## Venue

Search for any venue and Daysync pulls the details from Google. For example, type *The Night Cat, Melbourne* and add it to the day in two clicks.

A day can hold more than one venue, alongside its stays. Each venue can also carry:

* **Attachments** such as riders and tech packs
* **Key contacts** for the venue
* Extra details your crew needs on the day

When something changes, you can **notify** the people affected straight from the venue panel.

***

## Guest list

* Create **custom pass types** (AA, guest, photo, etc.)
* Crew submit requests from **their phones**, and they land here
* **Approve** or **deny** each request, then **export** the list or **send it to the venue**

<Note>
  Guest list requests work on mobile too, so nobody needs to text the TM a list of names at 4pm.
</Note>

***

## Bulletin

Each day has its own notice board. Bulletins support rich text (bullets, bold, the works) and attachments, and they can be:

* **Posted** straight away
* **Scheduled** for later
* **Sent with a push notification**

<Tip>
  Pre-fill a bulletin from the venue pack and schedule it to land at load-in. It reaches people's phones at the moment they need it, so they actually read it.
</Tip>

***

## Tour chat

Tour chat sits outside the day tabs because it covers the whole tour. The tour manager can set up:

* **Public channels** for the whole party
* **Private channels** for specific people
* **Group chats** and **1:1 DMs**
